I
I've been trying to take pictures that would show you that there's a village which goes right down to this beautiful, rugged rock. there were originally 3 arches in the rock (well....by originally I mean we saw photos in the museum). An arch existed where the 2 huge rocks are now totally separted at the very end; the little arch you can see just inside where that big arc would have been; and an arch on the opposite side from the village (the side in the pic right above this paragraph), which was at right angles to the other 2 arches.
This is the second, and smaller arch.
This is an animal which eats grass beside our campsite. We saw him closer today, and it's NOT a beaver, but it's fat like a beaver, not skinny like an otter. Maybe a nutria?
The bottom 2 photos are scenes from our campsite, as I turn in a circle. And the very top photo is from a lookout on that red-rock mountain behind the village. We're just on the outskirts of the village of Perce`. There are also houses on the large island which is in the very first photo, to the right of the arches.

I wonder if your Perce' are kin to Nez Perce whose home is where we are here in Idaho?
