Mackinac Bridge

We changed our travel plans out of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and decided to travel through Michigan to get to Niagara. At least one reason was that we saved about $100 getting 3/4 tank of diesel. This is the Mackinac Bridge, and I didn't realize we were even going over it until we were already in line to pay the ($12+) toll. I had read about the Mackinac Island which can be accessed by ferry only in this area, but I had given up hope of including it on our trip, cause it was so far out of the way. It's very historical, and quaint. And then we sailed right past it, and I missed my chance. No way we'd have circled around and paid to come BACK over the bridge, and then gone BACK over it again. Tonight we're in Port Huron, MI, and tomorrow we'll cross back over into Canada to see Niagara. We travelled at least 400 miles today, fighting a terrible wind, and interstate traffic all the way. But at least speed limits were posted in MPH, rather than KPH. ; - )
