La Cross, Wisconsin

The campsite at La Cross, Wisconsin, was actually on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River. It was beautiful, and the walks they provided were very pretty. One morning Sam and I took a walk, and a bald eagle flew at treetop height right over our heads. They spend the summers here, and they're so awesome to watch. This was one morning when Dick went to the office to check on something, and found out that they sold bloody mary's from 8:00 AM till noon, for $4.00. So we decided to partake. It was one of the very few lazy days we've had, when we weren't exploring or doing chores around the RV.

Dick cooked delicious fillets on the grill.

Scenes along the MS River.

There are twenty something locks along the MS River. They are not for flood control. They're to keep a deep channel open for commercial ships and barges to continue to be able to go up and down river. Otherwise, because of differences in the level of the river in dry and wet seasons, commercial shipping would only be able to go on 4-5 months a year.
