I had so much fun researching my great great grandparents, Eliza Jane and Erastus D. Ladd. EDL was one of the founders of the town, and a town father. Actually, I read that when his name was written, it was followed by, Esq, which meant he was wealthy, and respected. But he made it on his own. His father, Samuel, was a shoemaker in Wisconsin, and EDL had only limited higher education. There are 4 people buried with them in their plot, whose last name is 'Hidden'. I don't know what that's about. But Mr. Hidden bought the plot for $27.50.
